Apple Leak Reveals Massive New iPhone 7

Yesterday numerous reports picked up on leaks regarding radical new iPhone 7 camera technology. As interesting as that news was, however, the coverage skated over what for me was by far the greatest consequence of the story: Apple AAPL +2.71% expanding the iPhone 7 range with a third model…

All we know at this point is this third iPhone 7 model will be a variation of the massive 5.5-inch Plus edition and that it uses dual rear cameras which work together to offer both optical zoom and “DSLR-quality” photos. Would that be the only change? Given Apple would need to accommodate two camera modules, I doubt it and noticeable internal and external changes would be necessary.

Furthermore this dual camera technology (attained via the acquisition of optical specialist LinX in 2015) would strongly suggest the dual camera iPhone 7 Plus would become the new flagship of the iPhone range. This would result in a four model strategy starting with the exciting new iPhone 5SE/iPhone 6C at the (relatively) budget end, followed by the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with the dual camera iPhone 7 Plus at the top (‘iPhone 7 DC’?).

So what should we make of this?

Personally speaking, I think it sounds like a terrible idea. Yes, Apple already treats the ‘Plus’ as the top tier model both in terms of features (battery, display and camera) as well as price but splitting it into two variants merely creates confusion. Traditionally simplicity is at the heart of Apple’s hardware and software and an iPhone 5SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and ‘iPhone 7 DC’ wrecks that. If the new camera is great put it in both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus or even just the 7 Plus, but don’t split the Plus into two.

And yet this report can’t easily be dismissed.

The reason for this is it comes from KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, dubbed “the best Apple analyst on the planet”. Kuo has a remarkable track record and over the last 18 months broke news of the radical 12-inch MacBook, iPad Pro (including launch), the shift to 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen sizes with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and nailed every major feature of the iPhone 6S four months ahead of its launch.

Consequently the notion that Apple may be considering the creation of a third iPhone 7 model has to be taken seriously. Kuo isn’t wrong often, but for Apple’s sake this time I hope he is…

King and Country Creates New Teaser Campaign for ‘Vikings’

King and Country developed the original branding and iconic logo for Vikings when the series debuted in 2013, so they were intimately familiar with the series.
“History came to us with their concept and scripts for the project and were looking for a partner they could trust to shoot halfway around the world,” says K&C partner/executive producer Jerry Torgerson. “They know the high level of creativity and attention to detail that our directors put into their work. We were there at the launch of Vikings and have been huge fans since, so it was amazing to work with them again.”
The shoot took place over the course of two days on the Vikings Ashford Studios soundstage in Wicklow, Ireland, while the new season was still in production. K&C’s main production challenge was working around the show’s filming schedule because they were utilizing the same location, crew, props and talent. This meant planning for as many variables as possible in advance, so they could adapt quickly to the availability of the cast, crew, and stage.
Because the power of the spots comes from the intimacy of the internal monologues, K&C partner and director Rick Gledhill says they never let production techniques get in the way of the characters and the audience.
“After working so closely on the show’s branding, it was great to get the opportunity to work up close and personal with the actors and frame them through our lens,” says Gledhill. “The beauty came from a balance of subtle cinematography, art direction and the incredible lighting and compositing achieved by our team.”
King and Country shot with the Red Epic Dragon attached to a Technocrane to allow them to move quickly through two shoot days. They shot live-action plates of the environment and snakes on set before augmenting everything in post. K&C was after a different look aesthetically than the show, so along with the already rigged lighting for the set, they used candles, open flames, and flame bars. In post, they used Premiere, Maya, After Effects and Nuke to create the layered composites, animated snakes and rich palette showcased in the final spots.
“It's clear to see why this show has been such a huge success,” concludes K&C partner/director Efrain Montanez. “The level of commitment and dedication that everyone brings to their roles, whether they're the talent or the crew, is truly inspirational.”

Amazing art book teaches you how to draw from scratch

Master the art of illustration with fantasy-themed book Draw Like A Boss.

Draw Like A Boss
The long-awaited book of Draw Like A Boss was two years in the making

Learning basic artistic rules is the first step in becoming a successful illustrator. But with so many resources available that aim to teach you how to draw, aspiring creatives can be overwhelmed by their options. Fortunately the latest book from Manchester studio Draw Like A Boss covers everything fledgling artists need to know.
Following on from the success of their online resources, Draw Like A Boss have now launched a Kickstarter to fund the release of their first printed book.

Two years in the making, the self-titled Draw Like A Boss book is packed with demonstrations and advice on how to grow and progress as an artist.
"Where this book differs from other 'how to draw books' is that we take a look at contemporary ideas, new ways of building a drawing from scratch," explain the authors Ash and Eli. "It's a more organic process because in  a sense we come to feel that we are growing a drawing, rather than mechanically constructing it part by part."
With just over three weeks left until the campaign runs out, there's still plenty of time to support the project on Kickstarter.

Google Launches New Search Results Interface For Tablets

Google Search quietly launches a new interface for tablet users. The design and layout is noticeably different from the previous version.

Google has launched a brand-new interface for searchers on tablet devices. The new interface is very different from the old tablet design, which was a combination of mobile and desktop design in one. This tablet view uses a form of card-like results, with a skinnier top bar navigation and a lot of white space on the left and right of the search results.

Here are screen shots from this morning:

Vfx Master Course

In simple terms, VFX is the process by which imagery is created and/or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot to create environments which look realistic, but would be dangerous, expensive, impractical, or simply impossible to capture on film. Visual effects are mostly executed in the post-production stage with the use of multiple tools and technologies such as graphic design, modelling, animation etc, while special effects such as explosions and car chases are partially executed during the filming process itself.

Vfx industry is on the rise in India with the overall revenue about to cross 15000 crores by this year end. Vfx plays a vital role in every aspect of visual media like Television programs, Films, Advertisements, Music videos, Games etc & its unimaginable even to conceive a visual program today without the usage of vfx in some form. The demand for Vfx professionals is huge today, as India is also becoming the biggest hub for outsourced projects from foreign studios.

Animation Wizard Course

Animation is the process of creating the illusion of motion and shape change by means of the rapid display of a sequence of static images that minimally differ from each other. There are 2 kinds of animation – 2D animation & 3D animation.
2D animation means creating movements using characters & backgrounds in a two-dimensional artistic space. 3D animation means the creation of moving pictures in a three-dimensional digital environment, which is done by sequencing consecutive images, or "frames", that simulate motion by each image showing the next in a steady progression of steps, filmed by a virtual "camera" and then output to video by a rendering engine.
The animation industry in India has been growing at a robust 22% every year, with many animation studios & production houses packed with work, be it outsourced from foreign studios or in-house projects for Indian market. Animation films, TV commercials, Computer games & Elearning industry are all in the booming phase in India & hence the demand for animation professionals are huge today.
Our animation course has been segmented into 3 parts – Fundamentals of animation, 2D animation & 3D animation. The program has been designed with a lot of inputs from the industry experts & it covers all 3 stages of Animation project lifecycle such as Pre-production, Production & Post production in a comprehensive manner.
